Join the Stampede April 28th!

Prepare for an afternoon learning the impact horses have when utilized for mental health. Enjoy BBQ sliders and more. Tour of the Ranch where you can hear impactful stories and get a glimpse of just how powerful horses can be to break the cycle of hopelessness and how your support impacts families and our whole community. This learning and networking event is geared toward adults, and for the first time we are opening it up to ages 12 and up who might benefit from our services. To be able to deliver an informative experience for all, we ask that any 12*-17yr olds you may plan to bring are attentive to directions, plan to stick with their parent/guardian for the duration of the event (unless guided by HLR staff otherwise) and realize the event purpose is gaining insight and information as opposed to petting or playing with the horses. *PARENTS...if you are deciding to bring a 12+ year old.... Some of the stories and testimonies shared will have mature content & topics. As much as we would like to shelter or wish our children did not have to deal with these topics, the reality is kids are exposed to many of these subjects already via friends, social media, school, etc. We know kids talk to kids. Based on experience, we have found that by creating awareness of resources Hearts Landing Ranch offers, all ages can become aware of another outlet they can use for themselves and offer to their friends or family members.

Switching it up this year for a special afternoon on Sunday, April 28th, 2024.

We heard many of you would like to learn more about each horse and the people those horses have impacted.

Hear Hearts Landing Ranch Program stories and learn how feelings of despair, shame, or hopelessness can turn into purpose, hope, and healing. Learn how you can partner with Hearts Landing Ranch to provide resources to families and their loved ones struggling with a mental health crisis. Adult *and qualified youth 12-17yr old* invited. This event will happen rain or shine!

Hearts Landing Ranch exists to build a community to impact a community by serving foster youth, veterans, families, and victims of crime and human trafficking. HLR offers mental health therapy and learning using experiential, land-based programs. Often people are too ashamed or stuck, to sit and talk about what they have been through or what they need. With equine-assisted therapy, we can accomplish in months, what might take years in talk therapy.

You can be a part of reducing addiction and suicide rates in our community!

FOR PEOPLE WHO LIKE MORE DETAILS:

Your partnership will help Hearts Landing Ranch see more individuals and impact more families who would otherwise not be able to afford Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP).

EAP is a form of therapy for the treatment of a variety of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, anger, substance abuse, trauma, PTSD, attachment issues, grief and loss and adjustment disorders.
EAP allows clients to project their feelings, actions, ideologies, and judgments onto the horse(s) which can relieve the pressure of the client needing to verbalize and explain their feelings or may lessen the intensity of thinking or talking in an internalizing way. This can be useful if the client has a hard time accepting or talking about something personal or traumatic. EAP can also highlight discrepancies between the client’s words and actions, whether it is due to the client being unaware, putting on a front, or even being manipulative.
EAP allows clients the opportunity to develop awareness of their own behavioral patterns and process their emotions as they interact with horses. As prey animals, horses are highly attuned to their environment for their survival. Additionally, they are highly social and communicate almost solely through body language. They pick up on the non-verbal cues we bring into session and respond to them immediately in a non-judgmental way.
EAP uses the mirroring capabilities of horses to show clients how their body language and internal state affect their interactions with others. In order to create a connection with the horses, clients must learn to self-regulate, manage their difficult emotions, and change their behaviors. Additionally, watching the reactions and behaviors of the horses offers opportunities for the client to identify metaphors that can provide additional insight into what is going on in their own lives.
Many ways you can help Hearts Landing Ranch make a difference:

Contribute to covered Round Pen: Increases our Sessions Year-Round, and help us on our way to launching a new PTSD Riding Program. This would help us get out of the sun on 104-degree days, and out of windy rain in winter. This help not only gives clients a more comfortable space to work, but helps remove some of the wear and tear on horses and humans working in the elements all day long.

Or help sponsor sessions for those who could otherwise not afford them.

8-week EAP Therapy Group Scholarship: $1,500

8-week EAP Therapy 1:1 Scholarship: $2,500

Sponsor a Horse: $967/month, or sponsor one aspect for a horse, such as monthly cost of maintaining hooves, or supplements, etc.
